Vincent Delpierre presents a series of paintings, some inspired by the spirit of the
\nmountains, others by the poetry emanating from the enclosed garden that forms his
\neveryday environment. Painter, draughtsman and gardener alike, the artist does not
\ndepict nature as he sees it, but rather as he feels it. In this representation drawn from the
\nrealm of childhood dreams, nothing appears chaotic. The landscape is organized,
\ncompartmentalized and fragmented into plots or territories, like the various pieces of a
\npuzzle that the painter assembles and encapsulates within a well-structured
\ncomposition.
\nWinding paths, checkered grounds and impassable hedges become so many vanishing
\nlines that articulate and play with perspective. A few architectural elements, concealed
\nwithin this nature-landscape, provide a counterpoint. Although the Alpine peaks spread
\nacross the canvas never dissolve into total abstraction, the artist surprises us with the
\nunusual linearity of colored bands firmly anchored in the composition, as well as with his
\nuse of a clearly geometric decorative vocabulary. With his characteristic patience,
\nVincent Delpierre methodically applies color through delicate touches placed side by
\nside, forming small quadrilateral shapes of vibrant, luminous mosaics. Thus, through a
\ngesture that is both serene and recurrent, the artist\u2019s joyful reverie is reconstructed on the
