As part of the Mestre Mateo Awards, the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels will host a cycle of Galician cinema, whose second screening will be ‘Las l\u00edneas discontinuas’, directed and written by Anxos Faz\u00e1ns.<\/p>\n
Synopsis<\/p>\n
Bea is a 50-year-old woman who is separating from her husband. On the day she has to leave the home where she has lived for the past twenty years, she arrives home to find everything in disarray and one of the burglars asleep in her bed.<\/p>\n
Den\u00eds is a 28-year-old man who, despite having a university degree, struggles with job insecurity and a lack of opportunities. After spending three days together, each of them must continue on their own path. When they return to their lives, they are no longer the same.<\/p>\n
About the director<\/p>\n
Anxos Faz\u00e1ns (Pontevedra, 1992) is a director and screenwriter. She has recently released her second feature film, ‘Las l\u00edneas discontinuas’, which had its international premiere in the Official Selection of the Tallinn Black Nights Festival 2025, and its Spanish premiere at the Gij\u00f3n International Film Festival (FICX), where it received the \u00abDAMA\u00bb Award for Best Screenplay for a Spanish Film. It has also been screened at numerous national festivals such as Novos Cinemas, Rizoma and REC Tarragona. In addition, it is part of the Smart 7 International Selection, which will take it to festivals such as Vilnius, IndieLisboa, New Horizons and Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n
Her first feature film, ‘A Estaci\u00f3n Violenta’ (2017, Matriuska), travelled to several festivals, including the Seville European Film Festival, BAFICI, D\u2019La Film Festival, SANFIC and Cinespa\u00f1a Toulouse. It also received an Honourable Mention at the Cali International Film Festival. Her short films have likewise been selected for various festivals: Area (2016, Matriuska) was screened at Zinebi, Anal\u00f3gica (2019, Erika Lust) competed at BAFICI and Curtocircuito, and Habitar (2023, S\u00e9ptima) was selected for Play-Doc and the Gij\u00f3n International Film Festival, among others. In 2019, she took part in the Injuve Artistic Residencies.<\/p>\n
In 2018, she founded the production company S\u00e9tima together with Silvia Fuentes, where she produces and supports directors such as Javier Ferreiro, \u00c1ngel Filgueira, Sara Traba, Berio Molina and \u00c1lvaro Gago. She also worked as an assistant director on the feature films ‘Naci\u00f3n’ by Margarita Ledo and ‘Cando toco un animal’ by \u00c1ngel Filgueira. She combines her professional career with teaching, as part of the teaching team of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication at UVigo and the ACT Galicia school, among other activities. In terms of her academic background, she completed a Master’s Degree in Film Direction at ESCAC and a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Art, Creation and Research at UVigo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
