\u00c0 la crois\u00e9e du romantisme et du modernisme, Rachmaninov, Reger et Scriabine sont confront\u00e9s aux d\u00e9fis d\u2019un monde en pleine transformation. M\u00e9lancolie teint\u00e9e de modernit\u00e9, symbolisme pictural, extase mystique : les fronti\u00e8res s\u2019estompent, l\u2019expression personnelle triomphe.<\/p>\n

\u00c9nergie cosmique et lib\u00e9ration spirituelle<\/p>\n

L\u2019Am\u00e9rique ne fut jamais une v\u00e9ritable patrie pour Rachmaninov : on trouvaitson style romantique d\u00e9pass\u00e9, et les nouveaux courants musicaux ne l’inspiraient gu\u00e8re. Ce Quatri\u00e8me Concerto pour piano t\u00e9moigne de sa qu\u00eate d’une identit\u00e9 musicale renouvel\u00e9e ; jamais il n\u2019a travaill\u00e9 aussi longtemps et intens\u00e9ment \u00e0 une \u0153uvre. Le r\u00e9sultat ? Un concerto oscillant entre romantisme et modernisme, impr\u00e9gn\u00e9 de m\u00e9lancolie, de grotesque et d\u2019\u00e9lan flamboyant.<\/p>\n

En guise de transition vers le Po\u00e8me de l’extase de Scriabine, Max Reger donne vie aux tableaux myst\u00e9rieux d’Arnold B\u00f6cklin. Ses Vier Tondichtungen invitent \u00e0 un voyage musical fantasque, h\u00e9sitant entre solitude intime et f\u00eate populaire d\u00e9cha\u00een\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Un messie appel\u00e9 \u00e0 transformer le monde par sa musique :\u00a0 tel se voyait Alexandre Scriabine, sans la moindre modestie. \u00ab Lorsque tu \u00e9coutes le Po\u00e8me de l\u2019extase, regarde droit dans l\u2019\u0153il du soleil ! \u00bb, demanda-t-il \u00e0 un ami. L\u2019\u0153uvre est une v\u00e9ritable orgie de luxuriance musicale, \u00e0 l\u2019image du po\u00e8me (quelque 300 vers !) qu\u2019il \u00e9crivit lui-m\u00eame pour l\u2019accompagner. Malgr\u00e9 son mysticisme n\u00e9buleux, elle parvient \u00e0 \u00e9voquer l\u2019intemporalit\u00e9 dont r\u00eavait Scriabine, d\u00e9bordante d\u2019\u00e9nergie et d\u2019extase.<\/p>\n
