Le cimeti\u00e8re d’Ixelles est le reflet de l’histoire locale, il offre un livre ouvert sur 200 ans d’architecture, de savoir-faire, d’artisanat et de symboles refl\u00e9tant diff\u00e9rents courants artistique, religieux et philosophiques. Si le cimeti\u00e8re de Laeken, longtemps pl\u00e9biscit\u00e9 par l’aristocratie catholique, pr\u00e9sente une architecture majoritairement gothique, celui d’Ixelles attire davantage la bourgeoisie la\u00efque qui pr\u00e9f\u00e8re des tombes de style essentiellement \u00e9clectique et moderniste. Le site de 10 hectares se parcourt comme une ville en miniature, avec ses all\u00e9es arbor\u00e9es, ses ronds-points, ses \u00eelots et ses perspectives. De nombreuses personnalit\u00e9s y reposent, comme le violoniste Eug\u00e8ne Ysaye, l’industriel Ernest Solvay ou encore le sculpteur Constantin Meunier. Le cimeti\u00e8re a \u00e9t\u00e9 class\u00e9 en 2016.<\/p>\n

Avec le temps, les abords du cimeti\u00e8re – remarquable lieu de repos bruxellois – se sont peupl\u00e9s de caf\u00e9s, de brasseries et d’estaminets en tout genre qu’aiment fr\u00e9quenter les \u00e9tudiants.<\/p>\n
