We honor Guru and his visionary project Jazzmatazz, where jazz harmony, hip hop drums and poetic flow meet in perfect balance. A bridge between worlds, where live musicians and MC culture share the same space, shaping a sound both raw and sophisticated. A generation grew up with these records, where conscious rap, smoky sessions and groove-driven production created a language of its own. Between tape decks, late night listening and deep basslines, that balance between message and musicality still resonates today. At SOUNDS, the tribute unfolds as one continuous journey.
The night opens with a DJ set rooted in The Sermon energy, setting the tone with deep cuts and warm textures. It then moves into a live reinterpretation, where groove and improvisation meet, carried by a band channeling the essence of Jazzmatazz while pushing it forward. Jam session at the end, open to extend the dialogue between jazz, hip hop and improvisation. One atmosphere. One shared pulse.
