Soledad Kalza and Sina Kienou are a duo deeply rooted in the traditions , blending strong influences like jazz, protest songs, lyrical music, Manding music, rock, and improvisation. Their journey spans across islands from east to west, from the Caribbean to the cotton fields of the North, from rural farmlands moving to the rhythm of the seasons, to the Manding scales and the blues of the Sahel. Sina, grandson of the Chief Griot of Burkina Faso, Baba Abdoulaye Kienou, is, alongside Soledad, his partner in both life and music, an ambassador of a universal language whose roots trace back to the Mandé Empire. Their new album, Atlanti Kaw, meaning “Atlantic People,” explores this shared space without losing the unique qualities that define them. In French, Dioula, and Spanish, they present 10 compositions under the label homerecords.be. Each piece is a snapshot of the world where poetry and music come together to name, heal, and imagine new utopias, connecting the past with the future, the seen with the possible.
