In a time when LGBTI individuals still disproportionately face violence, discrimination, and erasure, the need for a dedicated, combative space has never been more urgent. Recent research by the Agency for Home Affairs – Equal Opportunities, Integration and Citizenship reveals alarming statistics: 9 out of 10 LGBTI individuals in Flanders have experienced verbal or psychological violence, and 6 out of 10 have endured sexual violence. Lesbian women and transgender individuals face particularly heightened targeting. The Dyke* March stands as both acknowledgment of this harsh reality and a defiant celebration of their existence, survival, and resistance. Together, they reclaim space – in the streets, in public discourse, and in history. The Brussels Dyke* March is inspired by similar marches worldwide, from New York to Berlin. It is build upon a rich, but often underrepresented history of lesbian and queer resistance, and invites everyone to join, support, and listen. The march begins at 6:00 PM at The Crazy Circle in Ixelles and concludes with an afterparty at Ancienne Belgique. Everyone is invited to join and support!
