Wald Ensemble is an orchestra created in 2015, the name of it comes from “forest” in German, in which a large number of different trees together form a whole, a forest. The ensemble used that word as a metaphor for their name, connecting every tree as a musician, all together creating a musical forest. This orchestra is formed by main members of important orchestras, including Jehye Lee, second violinist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and also including members of London Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hannover Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Cologne Philharmonic Orchestra. The amazing guest, Chloe Jiyeong Mun, started playing the piano from a very early age, and at the age of 18, she won the first prize at the Geneva International Competition in Switzerland 2014, where caught the attention and interest of everyone. The following year she also won the Busoni International Competition in Italy, and from that moment her career bloomed, when Busoni Competition juror Dirk Demus lauded the pianist, by saying: “I discovered in her a natural musicality that I thought had disappeared in this era. And since then she has been able to play in the most prestigious orchestras in the world, and also doing solo recitals in festivals as the 17th Chopin and his Europe International Music Festival by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, and also in the festival of Sociedad Filarmónica de Vilagarcía, and much more. Wald Ensemble is coming back again bringing the opportunity to everyone to see Chloe Jiyeong Mun perform with them in Flagey, Wednesday 10th of January 2024 at 20:00, ready to do their second European Debut, same place three years later: and also as a gesture to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-EU Relations with distinguished musical excellence.
