Community is the foundation of belonging, mutual support and collective change. But building and sustaining communities takes more than good intentions. Join the Flamingo Collective for a two-hour session dedicated to examining what it takes to bring people together and keep them together. This interactive session begins with a broad perspective and moves progressively closer to home. We will consider why community building matters at this moment and how it is taking shape across the world today. We will then turn to Brussels. Which community organising do we find most inspiring here, what initiatives generate real energy and momentum? We’ll the reflect on practice. What are you already doing, or dreaming of doing, and what support would help you advance it? Bring your projects, half-formed ideas, and questions. You’ll leave with fresh connections and practical insights. Throughout the session, we’ll also explore what a feminist approach to community organising might look like, and gather the most valuable lessons we’ve learned over time about what works, what doesn’t, and what we wish we’d known sooner. This session is for: - Those already organising who seek renewed energy and/or allies - Those considering starting an initiative who are unsure where to begin - Anyone who loves learning from the experience of others - No prior experience needed.
