Viewing of '360 curvas' followed by a discussion with its director, Alejandro Gándara, and creators Adrián Méndez and Manuel Lucas
As part of the Mestre Mateo Awards, the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels will host a cycle of Galician cinema, whose next screening will be '360 curvas'.
Synopsis
360 curves mark the distance between A Fonsagrada and Lugo.
This long, difficult and descending road through the mountains reflects the decline of a place that, in the early 1990s, decided to fight for its survival.
About the director
Alejandro Gándara (Baio, 1993) holds a degree in Journalism from USC and a Master's Degree in Executive Audiovisual Production (MPXA). He worked as a journalist at La Opinión de A Coruña and in the Non-Fiction department of the audiovisual production company Voz. He was also a creative member of the audiovisual project 'Punto e Volta', which received the first Nacho Mirás Grant from the Association of Galician Journalists.
He directed the documentary series 'Galicia de 20 a 20', broadcast by CRTVG, and the documentary 'Dorothé na Vila'.
About the other creators
Adrián Méndez (Bilbao, 1996) has developed a career deeply connected to music, popular culture and oral memory. He is a musician —a bagpipe and hurdy-gurdy player with the group De Ninghures—, a traditional dance teacher and a researcher of popular culture, activities that he combines with cultural production and teaching.
Manuel Lucas is a filmmaker, musician and audiovisual enthusiast. His professional career spans documentary filmmaking and traditional music, seeking to connect both disciplines, with particular attention to aesthetics and visual sensitivity.
