A Dialogue on the Socio-Economic Present and Future
What is happening in Europe? What are the roots of the current socio-economic situation, and where are we heading?
To address these questions, we have organised a meeting with prominent international journalists who have first-hand knowledge of current affairs.
We will be joined by Claudi Pérez (Reus, Tarragona, 1972), international correspondent for El País, who has spent a significant part of his professional career in Brussels. A graduate in Economics and Journalism, he began his career at Expansión and El Periódico de Catalunya. He joined El País in 2004, first in Barcelona and later in Madrid. From 2012 to 2018, he was the newspaper's correspondent in Brussels, and subsequently became Head of National Politics and Deputy Editor of the newspaper. He is currently an international correspondent.
He will be joined by journalist Lode Delputte, a regular contributor to media outlets such as De Standaard and De Morgen. Delputte studied Romance Languages and Literatures and International Politics. He writes about Latin America and is the author of books on Cuba and Brazil, as well as having written about the war on drugs in Colombia, the mineral mines in Peru and youth gangs in Central America.
It will be a unique opportunity to listen, compare different points of view and engage in dialogue about the current socio-economic situation, its background and its future prospects, from different European and journalistic perspectives.
