This private home was built in 1876 for Emile Bockstael, the last mayor of Laeken before it was incorporated into the city of Brussels. Its interior is laid out in traditional Brussels style: the reception rooms start with a Louis XVI salon, followed by a Louis XV salon and an Art Nouveau winter garden. In contrast, the stairwell features remarkable Egyptian-style paintings that extend all the way to the top floor. This eclectic mix provides an authentic glimpse of a late-nineteenth-century Brussels interior. Today, the house serves as a venue for concerts and exhibitions organised by the art gallery Queens Brussels.
