Philippe Catherine's regular bassist has been given free rein and has invited the brilliant American trombonist Robin Eubanks to join him. Federico Pecoraro was born in 1994 and grew up in Italy, surrounded by music. His father, also a musician, was his first influence. He started out playing the drums but switched to the bass guitar at the age of 10. Federico began playing with many musicians in his region. He is largely self-taught, having attended music schools or conservatoires only sparingly. In September 2015, he was admitted to the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels, in the jazz department. His main project is the trio ‘Mynah' with Gabriele Di Franco (guitar) and Antonio De Donno (drums). This trio toured throughout Europe in spring 2016 to promote the release of their debut album ‘l'Intro'. He has also performed with the group Echt !, Oyster Node, Clevja Collective, keyboardist Jérémy Dumont's ‘Tribute to Chick Corea's Elektric Band', Eleven for Ten (Dinant Festival) and with guitarist Philip Catherine. Federico Pecoraro is honoured to welcome the man considered to be the greatest jazz trombonist of his generation : Robin Eubanks Following a brilliant academic career in Philadelphia, Robin made a name for himself on the New York scene, collaborating with jazz greats such as Art Blakey, Elvin Jones and Sun Ra. But his talent knows no bounds : he has also shared the stage with global pop and rock icons such as Barbra Streisand, the Rolling Stones and the Talking Heads. His excellence has been recognised with several Grammy Awards for his work with Dave Holland and Michael Brecker. He has been named ‘Trombonist of the Year' on numerous occasions by the prestigious magazines Jazz Times and Downbeat. A master of rhythm Beyond his virtuosity, Robin is a visionary composer. His strength lies in his ability to navigate with disconcerting fluidity between swing, funk and Latin music, incorporating complex and organic rhythmic structures. Also an accomplished teacher, he taught for 20 years at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory as well as at Berklee College of Music.
