Irina Favero-Longo

Irina Favero-Longo is a visual artist whose work is developed in a transdisciplinary way, with the aim of creating links. Her work takes the form of videos, installations and sculptures.

Irina uses her experience of video images to question the behaviour of bodies in relation to context. She creates installations that highlight the porous relationship between the body and its environment: the absorption, resistance, alteration and deformation of one in contact with the other. The forms she proposes stem from the structures and symbols she finds in urban areas and their influences on our bodies and our individual histories.

The spaces we inhabit are the ground of her work. The domestic space of ‘home’ – inside, the public space – outside, and the transition from one to the other. The spaces we pass through and occupy. Spaces we leave behind and let come to us.

She questions both the relationship of the body to the video device and that of the body to the urban environment. Her work reveals the strange and absurd arising from the encounter between bodies and devices.

Irina Favero-Longo was born in Paris in 1991 and studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Lyon (FR), the Faculté des Beaux Arts de Lisbonne (PT) and the Ecole de Recherche Graphique (BE).

Irina joined the KULT XL Ateliers residence in July 2023.
