Maëlle Dufour (1994) explores progress, the archaeology of waste and memory through complex systems and monumental installations.
A HISK prizewinner, she studied sculpture at La Cambre and in Finland, and has taken part in a number of prestigious exhibitions in Belgium and abroad, including Artagon III (chaired by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Paris, FR), BPS22 (Charleroi, BE), Kanal centre Pompidou (Brussels, BE) and Universidad de Conception (CL). She has also been invited to Shake Résidence Nomade (Tunis, TU), Maac (Brussels, BE), Alumi Startwell (Amsterdam, NL). In 2022, she created a permanent work for the prison in Haren (Brussels, BE).
Her work has been awarded several prizes, including the Prix d’encouragement de la sculpture de l’Institut de France, the Prix Sofam, 2019, the Prix de la Commission des arts de Wallonie, 2018 and the Prix public FWB de la jeune sculpture 2020. She has received several grants, including Vocatio 2022, Aide à la création 2019, Un Futur pour la Culture 2021 and Cocof 2021.
Maëlle joined the KULT XL Ateliers residency in July 2023.
