Pedro Riofrío

Pedro Riofrio, born in 1996 in Quito, Ecuador, currently lives between Europe and Latin America. A visual artist, musician, and researcher, he explores the intersections of biomaterials, technological innovation, and the physicality of sound resonances. His practice, deeply influenced by a dual cultural perspective, is rooted in themes of interconnection, transformation, and life cycles.

His work investigates the origins of matter, the passage of time, and the continuous metamorphoses of natural phenomena. He emphasizes the shared essence of all beings: we are composed of the same matter, vibrating and interacting within a network of relationships without hierarchy. This vision challenges conventional ideas of separation, revealing the profound interdependence of all things.

He develops a sensitive and organic approach to creation, inspired by life cycles and fungal worlds. As a member of the collective Mäytu and the musical group ROSA MARGA, he creates spaces where sound, matter, and imagination intertwine, opening the way to transformative and immersive experiences.

Pedro holds a Master’s degree in Sculpture from ARBA (Brussels, 2023). He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Belgium, France, Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States. His work has been presented in galleries and cultural centers such as Soil Gallery (Seattle, 2025), Galería Nasal (Mexico City, June 2025), ENSAV Bourges (France, 2025), Festival Ars Musica (Brussels, 2024), Botanique (Brussels, 2024), Punto Rojo (Quito, Ecuador), Gery Art Gallery (Namur), Galerie Odradek XL (2023), Eleven Steens (Brussels, 2023), and the Fondation Fiminco (Paris, 2023).
