Romane Iskaria holds a Master’s degree in Photography and Visual Space Arts from ENSAV La Cambre (Brussels, Belgium, 2022) with distinction, and a DNA (Diplôme National d’Arts Plastiques) with distinction from INSEAM Beaux-Arts de Marseille, France (2018). She also studied at the School of Visual Arts at Université Laval in Québec, Canada.
Romane Iskaria was awarded the TIFF 2024 Emerging Belgian Photography Award, granted by FOMU Fotomuseum Antwerp in partnership with the European platform FUTURES Photography.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in the United States (Assyrian National Convention, ART-ARK Gallery, Assyrian Policy Institute), Brazil (Galeria do Instituto Energisa, João Pessoa, Paraíba, Nordeste), France (Festival Circulation(s) in Paris, Lille Art-Up, Galerie La Grande Vitrine in Arles, Galerie HLM in Marseille), Belgium (Hangar Art Photo Center, FOMU Antwerp, S.M.A.K. Ghent, House of European History Brussels, TAMAT Tournai, BPS22, Art Brussels Off, Galerie TICK-TACK), as well as in Armenia (French Embassy), Italy, and the Netherlands.
She completed artistic residencies at Carrefour des Arts in Brussels and in Paraíba, Brazil, at the Arapuca Art Center.
Romane Iskaria has received several distinctions, including the TIFF 2024 Emerging Belgian Photography Award (FOMU Fotomuseum Antwerp / FUTURES Photography), OpenFolio #4 (Institut de la Photographie de Lille), Prix Médiatine with special mention (TAMAT Tournai), Belgian Photo Book Prize, and support from Polka Magazine & Kickstarter for her first book Assyrians. She also received grants from SOFAM (Multimedia Society of Visual Arts Authors), the King Baudouin Foundation, and a production grant from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. She was a finalist for the Freelens Mentor Prize in Paris and won 2nd prize at the Poznan Art Prize in Poland.
In 2022, she self-published her first book, Assyrians, in an edition of 300 copies, with a reprint planned for 2026.
