Next stop: art in Ixelles [Parcours d'Artistes 2026]

From 6 to 8 November, 120 artists and 50 venues are opening their doors for Parcours d’Artistes, following the route of bus 95.

This year, non-profit organisation Vaisseau Mère is taking the lead on Ixelles’ much-loved weekend of artistic discoveries, with support from the Municipality of Ixelles. But rather than inviting you aboard a spaceship, the artists are inviting you to hop on bus 95. Its route will become the guiding thread of an open-air art trail: from Boondael to Place du Luxembourg, you can make your own way around and get off wherever your curiosity takes you.

“We want to create an accessible, lively trail where you can move from a home to an artist’s studio, from a performance to a concert, from an exhibition to an installation…” explains Louana Celeste, who is coordinating the project. Artists’ studios, homes, schools, shared spaces, cultural venues and unexpected locations will all be opening their doors for the occasion. École des Arts d’Ixelles, Rhizomes, Créahm, URsquare, KULT XL Ateliers, Chapelle de Boondael and ULB Culture are among the participating venues. It is a rare opportunity to step inside the places where artists work and discover not only their creations, but also the environments in which they take shape.

Parcours d’Artistes has been designed to satisfy every curiosity. Painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, installation, ceramics and textiles will sit alongside dance, music and performance. From emerging to established artists, and from more traditional to experimental practices, there is a wealth of different approaches to explore. Create your own trail and follow your curiosity.

Art will even pop up where you least expect it. Through Côté fenêtre, associated artist Lucie Sans Peur is inviting Ixelles residents to display artworks in their windows. Seen from the street, their homes will become little galleries, open for everyone to enjoy. “This project perfectly captures the spirit of this year’s edition: taking art beyond its usual settings, bringing it directly into the city and creating encounters between artists and residents,” says the organising team.

Next stop: an artist’s studio, a home, an exhibition, a performance… or perhaps somewhere you’ve never noticed before. Stay curious, keep your eyes open, and discover the artists and cultural venues ready to welcome you!

As part of Parcours d’Artistes, KULT XL (Ixelles’ Culture Department) is also opening the doors of its studios and exhibition spaces. Across four locations, eleven artists are welcoming visitors into their workspaces for this special occasion, offering a glimpse into their worlds and creative practices, from textiles and ceramics to photography, drawing, airbrushing and coding.

The KULT XL studios are located at 21a rue Wiertz, 44 rue de l’Automne, 179 avenue du Bois de la Cambre and 95 rue du Trône. One of the highlights is Romane Iskaria’s Photo-talk, a performance combining photographs, archival material and storytelling, followed by a conversation exploring memory, place and how stories are passed on through images (7 and 8 November, 2–3 pm, 95 rue du Trône).

Just a short walk away, the exhibition Alluvions, at KULT XL Expo (23 rue Wiertz), brings together works by Esther Babulik, Aurore Scotet, Jeanne Pruvot Simonneaux and Léa Brami, exploring grief and the traces left by the past. A storytelling tour of Léa Brami’s installation Habiter les vestiges offers a different way to discover objects linked to past struggles, through the stories and emotions they evoke (7 November, 2–3.30 pm).

Finally, at Boondael Chapel, L’image élargie brings together eight artists from the URsquare studios, who are pushing the boundaries of photography by bringing it into dialogue with weaving, painting, collage, analogue photography and even 3D printing. Guided tours in French, Dutch and English offer a chance to explore the exhibition in greater depth (7 November at 3 pm in English and 4 pm in French; 8 November at 4 pm in Dutch).

So many opportunities to discover distinctive artistic approaches, meet the artists and experience contemporary art from a different perspective.
